Canada to USA, Trailer Moving Company

    I bought a trailer in Grande Prairie, AB and need it moved to Great Falls, MT. (1225kms, 770 miles )

    Does anyone have any company recommendations?

    Get ready for a problem at the border. Get a broker that can smooth the process. Not a truck broker, a US Customs Broker. I'm not sure about crossing south, but going north the VIN number must be at US Customs for 72 hours prior to crossing so Customs can verify it is not stolen or any other problem. If the trailer was made in Canada, duty may be due, if a US built trailer, don't know. But be prepared for Customs and will go smother.

    The process can be a lot smoother than people think. It has to be in compliance with DOT, an EPA requirements for its model year, if it has a reefer. The duty fee is nominal, and it applies to American made too. What only applies to Canadian is the FET. Make sure you have a signed bill of sale.

    I’ve brought 6 pieces down already, I’ve always had my own truck bring it though so it’s been way easier on that front.

    I just don’t want to drive a rig way up there from ND.....and I bought a work pickup that I have to drive from GP to ND.... just another thing I have to deal with.

    I know this is a few weeks old but maybe look into a power only load headed north .. aka new trailer equipment or something along those lines.
