APU showdown squeaking noise

on tripac shutdown, on the last few revolutions as it winds down, something squeaks, getting worse every time it shuts down, sounds like a combination of squeaking like sneakers on basketball court and metal on metal grinding. AC having trouble keeping cab below 80 in 110 Arizona heat. Watching the coils under the bunk, I don't think they are even ever freezing at all, just cold and wet. Original compressor and charge at 9k hours, hasn't been touched since factory installed. Is that the AC compressor about to die?

 

ac comp clutch is rusty and floppy without even taking the belt off, belt is getting chewed up too. can you just replace the clutch without needing a new ac comp?

 

TK parts/labor are more expensive but they record them all by serial number, when it fails again within part warranty the new part is free, just pay labor

 

TK won't replace just the ac clutch

ac comp is +/- $250 other places with (maybe) 1 year warranty, roll the dice...TK OEM is $400 with a mandatory 2 year TK system warranty. Call it $150 for the 2 year guarantee, $250 for the comp. the labor is obscene, in shop for ~3 hours, $622 in labor for PM, ac comp replace, and AC charge. this bill hurts, but from factory installed new to +8500 hours the ac hasn't been touched and has been chooching like a champ without a hiccup, 3.5 years worth of ice cold air over 36 months that's like
$40/month
