you get a start day, I would usually wait till 8pm to start calling in and ask for a load but I preferred running at night. Being in Texas you’re gonna get a ton of miles, 2800-3000 easy. It’s a great job, once you learn where all the terminals are and stuff it’s just a matter of point and shoot the truck in that direction. Try to stay out of Houston tho it’s a black hole lol

My road test was first time I drove a single axel. Upon leaving I put it in 3rd and slammed the gas. Broke traction and it was like riding a bull. I look over at dude in jump seat and he was holding on for dear life. We didn’t go far. He had me turn around next exit and go back and said good to go. Even broke my set for me. Lol I wanted to laugh from the look on his face.MACK E-6 Thanks this. -
What ever terminal your out of most times you will run any extra freight out on your start day. My old terminal was done breaking freight at 9pm. They always had me in there at 8:30. If they had no extra freight for the night I always went out empty to a near by terminal with extra. Very rare I didn’t go out on my start day. -

Texas, especially Dallas, FTW, Irving is the best to run extra board. You can't go to NYC, PA, etc because it isn't your region. You also can't go to California and all of that either. Best of both worlds man lol
