How hard would to find dedicated cross country loads each week as o/o with team driver?

Alright so this is mostly hypothetical. I drove otr 18 wheelers for about 6 months maybe 5 years ago, and then found my way to expediting in the smaller trucks. I currently am O/O of sprinter van.

I was thinking what it would take for me to upgrade back to class A being a O/O.

What I would like to find is 2 team loads that would be dedicated and the same every week....from the Southeast to the southwest. Should be able to do it in 4 to 5 days and have a set few days off each week at home.

So how hard would it be to find loads that put me into that kinda position? And if not dedicated, how hard or easy is it to stay moving from south east to southwest?

And like I said this is hypothetical i just wanna see if it's realistic obviously it's not the best time to be doing anything like that.

Those lanes are not usually the highest paying ones. Hauling a couple loads in the 5 to 700 mile range would pay much better.

It's more about the lifestyle. I like the idea of first of all, very rare snow and ice running across 10 or 20. Second we make the trip and load coming back and I can have 3 solid days home or so each week. Even if it's not the most lucrative way to run a truck.

Would this be a new authority? If so a new authority plus a team may come with a very high insurance rate. Leasing on may be a better option.

Right now with the expediting I'm leased onto a company with authority, would have no problem doing the same thing, as long as the company I lease to could get me these loads.

The problem isn't finding the work, it is out there.

The problems are a few that are very hard to deal with long term.

The first is how do you handle unexpected downtime?

Your truck goes broky broky ... you have outbound Monday and and in bound on Friday. The truck is supposed to be down for three days but it is down for three weeks.

    Tell the customer what?

The second is an issue of something called burnout.

My experience is team driver need to take breaks outside of the truck, sometimes for two weeks.

There are other thing to do with customer relations, but that's a lot of other info,

Well first of all I have no idea, like I said mostly asking hypothetically.

But I would imagine if I got the loads through a broker using their authority, or even if you had your own, would able to broker out the load to another trucking company during emergency truck repair times. Same if you wanted to take a week off.

But I mean like I said I don't know, Am I wrong about this? I'm tryin to learn.

Also, yeah you need time off running as a team definately. Thats part of what Im looking for in the two back to back loads, a solid 2 or hopefully 3 days at home each week. Back when I did drive class A, I worked for a company that got you home each weekend, but more often than not it was for a 34 hour reset and nothing more.
