I caught just bits and pieces of a conversation B.Mallison and K. Rutherford were having with a caller that was having an overheating issue. They mentioned something about adding an extra tank, frame mounted that was to be plumbed into the rear of the head to increase the total liquid capacity of the cooling system. Did I understand that correctly? In my vocation when it is 90+ degrees is often when we push our trucks the hardest . Have to just lock fan on to maintain temp in safe range.

I might add that we have the biggest dimple tube radiators we can find. Pete379 deAcerted, and W900l with C mechanical. Both hold around 11 gal of coolant. When I was a kid drove my cousins 359xhd 3408pc alot and it always ran cool. Held about 17gal of coolant too.

The extra tank is simply just an air tank mounted on the frame behind the cab with lines circulating the coolant through the tank. Will cool about 10 degrees off of the temperature of the cooling system, If you need more just add two tanks and plumb them in series.

    To add cooling capacity I
thought about adding an extra bunk heater on the outside rear of cab.
Just plumb into existing coolant lines for existing bunk heater and add a fuzed switched power feed.

Old PC motors needed larger cooling systems vs direct injection because of the inefficiency.

IMO if your temperatures are in check just run it. I wouldn't put the effort into fixing a problem that doesn't exist.

Another option is changing your coolant ratio.

You probably caught the tail end of a sales pitch for waterless coolant. Something that sounds great, except Truck runs 20 degrees hotter, since water is the best coolant there is. KRs been peddling it for a while.
