Overdrive magazine said blitz inspection starts on August 23, 2020. Some other magazine said the same blitz inspection starts on September 7. The DOT will concentrate on brakes. I am in Florida now and don't see any inspections going on. Maybe Overdrive posted wrong date? It is about safety, they say, but sounded more like collecting money

Yea, wrong date. It will be in September. Starts 9 and ends on 11.
Snailexpress Thanks this. -
Or September 7 to September 9.

This was to be brake safety week not the 72 hr blitz. But no brake week I suppose

There is one going on now at least in Az. On I 40 E. outside of Flagstaff. The coop's were closed. Troopers are pulling drivers into rest areas and doing the inspection there. They had 8 pulled in.

Dave_in_AZ and Snailexpress Thank this. -
SC eastbound scales on I-20 between Augusta and Columbia had a lot full of DOT and were randomly selecting victims. Michigan, Ohio and northern Kentucky had an above average number of DOT SUV troopers with trucks pulled over this week.

Ok, then, I will just spend a few more days at Cocoa beach when the blitz end.
Wasted Thyme Thanks this. -
Drove through VA,WV,PA and NY today and all the scales were open at one point or another in each state. Looks like they are doing brake inspections.

This week is CVSA Brake Safety week, not the 72 hr blitz... Utah is Definetally observing it, DOT signs read "Semis Check Brakes" and coups were doing inspections.
This Brake Safety Week happens every year, but no one pays it much mimd, as it isnt nearly as high pressure as the blitz.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this.
