you can pay and get your own physical done. By a dr not being bribed by cpap companies. Go and file your new physical with the dot. Boom you've got a 2 year card now. Your company can't say anything about it

 

No, I'm pretty sure a company can make you go to a DOT doctor of their choosing, just to prevent drivers from going to an examiner with low standards.

 

Yep, fortunately our company says you can use your own qualified Dr., but you have to pay out of pocket. It was well worth the $60 not to deal with Concentra.

This is a good point. A yes answer to snore question is a trigger.

 

Does anyone in your family have it? Your insurance will not cover it if it’s ordered by a DOT Doctor. If someone in your immediate family has it, well you could just be “concerned that you may have it” and want to get it checked out.

 

Averitt did a sleep study on one of my friends and doctored up the paperwork to make it seems as if he'd failed it. They put him on a CPAT and he had trouble sleeping while on the machine. The company is able to remotely monitor the activity of the CPAT from headquarters, so they'll badger the drivers to log so many hours a week on it just to stay employed there. They even wanted him to use the machine on hometime. He left the company before funding a second opinion at a local office. The physician told him that he didnt need to be on a CPAT

 

You can snore without it not stopping your breathing. I do.

 

Yes I agree. I'm just saying there is a reason that question is on sleep apnea screening.
