Anyone go back far enough to remember: The Night Riders Show on WCKY in Cincinnati.

    One mentioned : XERF...
Tag line was "This is radio station XERF in Del Rio Texas. Broadcasting from beautiful Saddle Back Mountain in Acuna Mexico". (Could not get FCC approval for their wattage in Del Rio, so put the transmitter in Mexico). They could reach out and touch you up into KY late at night.
I have a pic of the mountain; from the highway running Laredo to Monterey, taken out the passenger side window of a V195 IH enroute from S. Lebanaon, OH to Vera Cruz in 1956-57, pulling dairy cattle.

    Another and for Alabama:
"The best what am in Alabam, WVOK in Birmingham ". On the then Birmingham-Bessemer Super Highway.
Only stretch of 4 lane divided highway ( US11) in that area. Guy named Joe Rumore was announcer and had a record shop in B'ham.

Station out of New Orleans. Cannot remember the name but a call sign of: "(XXX) your clear channel station".
All in the day of AM radio. You bought it at local Western Auto store, screwed it to the bottom edge of the dash, and hung on an antenna. When you quit, you could take the radio, but either leave the antenna or pay the shop to fix the holes.
