Some of those are independents that got bought up and taken into the fold.
My cost for fuel at TA in San Antonio is $1.76.
Flying J $1.86.
I'll give everyone three guesses where I'm fueling and showering.
So...will TA reinvest in their sorry locations?

Flying J is 14 cents more.
TA if you get 60 gallons it's free to park.
Shower is $16.
So it's a fiddy out the window on a 100 gallons of fuel.
You big time Schneider guys just have money to burn.Dale thompson, 48Packard and jsnell Thank this. -

Unfortunately they invested in the one at Buckhorn, PA (I-80 232). Now it's a typical modern TA. Before it was run down but had loads of character and was one of those few places that was still the same as it was when I was a kid, places I could go and forget, if only for a little while, that I'm stuck in a year that starts with a 2.
No more.GreenPete359, 48Packard and Trucker61016 Thank this.
