Anyone that is for this needs to list mental illness on their DOT physical.

Can't scroll down enough to read it. What is crazy about taking a break of a few hours, as opposed to spending hours in rush hour traffic. I ran out of Chicago for years, You stopped, got something to eat, took nap, rolled in & out

Honest question. Would it be bad for off duty to pause both drive and work hours? So they are both in line with each other? Don't get me wrong. I don't want tired drivers falling asleep on the road.

The nonstop 14 hour clock was put in there at the request of the mega carriers......

More leveling of the playing field.....,.

I honestly like the rules as they are. I find them to be very flexible. It's not so much that the rules are inflexible, it's just a lot of drivers don't know how to use the rules. Too many drivers want to run one schedule. Stopping the clock for 3 hrs and taking 10 hrs after more driving will backfire on potentially.

I probably wouldn't be up to working over 14 hours EVERY day but I would love to be able to have a few cheat days a week to make up time for a day I was tired and would have liked to stop earlier.

What is the proposed total shift time allowed in a 24 hr period? Sounds similar to how we do it up here....14 hours on duty with 16 hour shift time.

I dont see how extra hours available on a daily clock are a bad thing. Use it to ####, shower, and shave, or eat, or snooze, or carry out any equipment/housekeeping tasks (if you so desire) Or don't use it at all, either way!

Yeepee. More work for no more pay. Actually likely less pay as it will increase capacity, thus lowering rates.

The 14-hour clock is BS because it penalizes drivers for things that happen outside their control: slow shippers/receivers, wrecks, traffic, no parking, bad weather, etc. We've all pulled long days on occasion because of imperfect planning and dispatch, maybe by fudging on the logs a little. It isn't every day.

If you ask me, having a limit on drive time per 24 hours is enough to ensure that drivers are getting enough rest.

Everytime "flexibility" is introduced it really translates into shippers, receivers, and dispatchers being able to stretch out a driver's day due to their inability to do their job efficiently, and the driver doesn't get paid for that time.
