I saw same thing happen in Michigan early '90's, about the same time I decided I'd had enough of hauling into USA. Overzealous law enforcement IMO. Don't need the law interrupting a bunk party with the local talent.
Such actions would not happen in Canada.

You have no probable cause to break out my windows because I'm not answering, federal Mandate is to Not Wake Up A Driver in the sleeper. Cops do not have all rights just because they wear a badge. I have gone head to head with cops over accessing my tractor without probable cause and so far the court has back me not them. As far as assume that is not probable cause, and the city or state would definitely be replacing my window.
    Cop's can piss off.

Power trip much? Glad your not in law enforcement any longer.

What if the guy is in the bathroom taking a dump? Or in another truck sleeping with his wife? Or maybe he took an Uber into town for a bite? Or maybe just took a walk in the woods?

Nope. you’ll break his window just to prove how bad ### you are and civilians will bow to your will or else!!

I’m not on the side of all that’s taking place in the world today but attitudes like yours make it hard to pick a side for sure.

Have to agree. I mean an RV parked there. No one answers. Do you break in? Family took the SUV into town for dinner. LEO better have good probable cause to break into any vehicle.

There is no federal mandate about waking a driver up. Just another trucker bs story.

What happens when the driver protects themselves against the intruder that is potentially dangerous. Anyone can say "I'm a policeman, open up" so you open the door or window to a potential murderer, rapist or robber?
The truck is no different than my home, you come in unwelcome and you aren't leaving alive. My saftey and the saftey of my family is priority #1.

Cops know where criminals are in their town. They need to go after criminals instead of truckers or hard working citizens
