Yep, the problem is, with their typical ND superiority complex, you can't tell them anything...they know it all, and are experts in everything they attempt. There was a rumor going around the company that they're suppose to be working with a trailer manufacturer to design a double drop that can haul 50k lbs...as much as their current equipment flexes with 46.5k, the dang thing will snap in half or break more glass than the current trailers do(46.5k is almost the max weight their trailers can handle, 47k put me just barely into APU exemption land)

A friend of mine works for Frayley Shilling, their trucks can haul 50k+ lb coils. They have those mini sleeper, short hood trucks with 1 100 gal fuel tank. But, they try to get their drivers home weekly for a 34 in their own bed. If they went to those kind of trucks here, they better be doing short haul, out and back runs. Most of us that stay out for weeks/months at a time couldn't live in one of those...heck, some of the glass haulers I've seen here (both from Wylie and Moore) would have a hard time fitting in one of those sleepers. We've got some big ole boys on this fleet.

I applied with Frayley and when I was told about their mini trucks I ended the conversation. At least their recruiting dept is up front about it.

My friend doesn't seem to mind much, but he was never a mobile hoarder like me. He even seems content with the driver facing cameras they have as well. His biggest issue with them is the stupid collision avoidance and lane departure system that they have on the truck they swapped him into. But they pay you for everything but wiping your nose, and have a guaranteed minimum pay, so he's content working there.

Was an interesting day yesterday. I had an 11 am appointment in Tuscaloosa, and load instructions say not to arrive more than 30 min early. I'm guessing because it's a small, crowded lot and you end up playing a lifesize version of a slide tile game moving out of everyone's way if you're there too early. So, I stopped at the T/A Sunday afternoon, and planned on getting to the customer right at 10:30. When I pulled in, there was no other delivery truck there. Turns out that they had 3 trucks scheduled, and I was the only one that made it. 1 broke down enroute, and one had problems at the plant. So, I could have been there at 0800 and been gone, but nobody bothered to say a word. The unloader was glad to see me, he came in at 7 expecting a busy day only to sit and wait.

I think most of the planning must be being done out of Fargo now. I get a call from a planner (who has a Fargo area code), which I let go to voicemail. They had originally planned me on a load that picks up tomorrow going to Miami for Friday. So, I was gonna take it easy for a day. Started regrouping my trucks contents to ditch more on the visit home next week...about the time I had all my crap spread out so I could organize it...I get another load. Pick up today going to Rock Hill for tomorrow morning 1st...now I have to fling my crap out of the way so I can do a shorty...I am gonna start calling this company Big Wylie Express... they're planning just like Big G Express did right before I told them to pound sand
