In my opinion the low rates put some carriers out of business. There were a few big carriers that went under.. As I am sure that you are aware, trucking rates go up and down with supply and demand. Of course the guys that haul cheap freight add to the low rates.

One of the big reasons I didn't see mentioned in the thread is a change in consumer spending that accompanied the pandemic. If your typical household spent $100 a week on service related activities (going to restaurants, going to bars, going to the movies, sporting events, etc), that number is typically much lower now. Much of that money is now being funneled into purchasing goods of various types, which always require more transportation support than service industries. So the economy isn't stronger, but the shift in consumer spending has created an increase in demand for truck capacity.

That's a bold statement to make, when you know literally nothing about me. I could have 1 truck and I could have 10

Trucking never closes , trucking never shuts down trucking runs 24/7 365 strong.
Now here is the difference ... some in the industry are making a good profit , some are treading water and some are losing money and some are going broke and losing everything. It’s NOT the economy it is YOU.

I know plenty just from your statement. How many trucks do you have? One?

I offer 80,000/yr right now with home weekends and brand new equipment and can’t get so much as a call. Not a single call.

So no, you have no idea what your talking about. I tried to say it nicely before.

The pandemic forced people to stay home. My next door neighbor, both the husband and the the wife are now working from home.
So, people started spending money on their home.
I read on another forum, a furniture salesman said business was booming.
