I just took my bigger than stock single off my 6nz and bolted a set of bxs compounds on. I really like them so far. No lag, quieter, better Jake holding..

    I'm around 700fwhp

Heres the best way I've learned to do this.....use the 7172 liner packs. Leave the twin turbos on just do away with precooler and delete vva's in the ecm program. You will have a monster motor that will survive.

I'm not running a precooler on mine and really no issues with IAT. But thats going to depend a little on your location. Its been 90+ here this week and haven't had an issue. I run fan when pulling hills

Doing away with the twin turbos. Tired of leaks and studs breaking. Not to mention the cost of bellows and clamps etc.

Throw the Cat manifold in the garbage and get a full tilt. The bellows, studs, heat related issues will lessen greatly once you get the factory timing corrected.

I used to think the 6NZ was the be all...end all of Cat engines. In 2011 I purchased a 2007 W900 with an NXS Cat. I was reluctant because I’d heard all the bad things about ACERT’s. My mechanic, who is one of the smartest Cat ECM gurus I’ve ever spoken to, told me that the ACERT had more potential than a “stinking” 6NZ (he figured out how to tune an ACERT before PDI taught the likes of Mr.Haney how to do it). He tuned my tired ACERT to out perform my 6NZ. Fast forward to 2020. I wanted to repower my 2014 ISX15 (POS) powered 2014 389. To a CAT......I’m going ACERT! 625 guts, 15:1 pistons (yes factory Cat, one piece steel) IVA delete, gawd knows what ecm software he’s concocted, pre 6NZ injection timing, prolly a 625 cam, 625 twinkies, injectors?!?!?
He says it’s gonna run smooth, no black smoke, fuel efficient........but only 700 horse. 21154E53-1674-49CD-978C-01C4B13BCA68.jpeg 18443CE8-2381-492B-AF4F-CF7FCAB09043.jpeg

I asked about it. Frankly forgot his answer. I’ve learned to let him do his thing. I still want to know where to find 15:1 factory ACERT pistons that he claims are in there. He bought it as a “platinum” kit and had to dismantle the packs because he doesn’t like the factory oil rings they came with

I asked today. His reply was: “Why would you want your intake temp to be 200 degrees hotter?” He thinks it’s foolish to delete it with twins.
