5k load on the trailer will eat that up and put you at your max rear axle rating.

    Xray4 Thanks this.

    Trailer is too heavy.

That hydraulic dovetail adds a lot of weight.

Yeah it's quite a bit heavier than I thought it would be. right now I'm racking my brain trying to figure out if I'm going to get rid of the truck or get rid of the trailer.

Well guys. I'm at a cross roads before starting the race, and need your help.

It's clear my setup is not feasible. I wanted to use the truck I already own, and bought a trailer that was better built that what I've seen available. I've created a combination that only allows 8k in cargo and it's just not going to work. I'll be pushing the drive axle limit no matter what, got DOT looking out for hotshots already, now add my tight axle rating to deal with. Something has to give. Either the truck, or the trailer.

If I go with a different trailer, I won't like it. I know myself enough. I've looked at others and they're largely crap in my opinion. Even if I find a different trailer, and lose the 1000lb aux fuel and cut weight everywhere possible, I'm still limited on loads by weight and length, and still sleeping in my truck. If I keep my 2017 F350 KR SRW, I'm depreciating it very quickly by beating on the miles maxing out it's capacity, all while trying to find the most valuable 'light weight' loads, and skirting the lines of overweight on axles.

I have a class A cdl. I have about 25k in capital left to start. That's if I pay insurance monthly, instead of taking the 10% savings and paying for the full year.

Finally,... Many people I see here end up progressing to a single semi, it seems like the natural progression after some time. This is in large part due to load availability, options, and sleeping in your pickup sucks after a while.

So... talk me out of it from the get go please... I see the writing on the wall already, that in a matter of time I will likely jump to a single semi anyway... so why not save the F350's precipitous depreciation from the beginning and just go for it and buy an FL70 now, or some other single semi...

What say you, who has experience, has been there and done that already? I want to be wise and learn from another's experience, rather than see the writing on the wall but still go out and get that experience and make that same decision later...

    Help me out!
    :D

Keep the trailer. That truck I'd sell or trade out of it for something more suitable.

    Xray4 and clausland Thank this.

That looks like a back beating noisy truck. (My favorite kind!)

'89 old school, 78K original miles, no rust, never seen salt. I've gone right through it, tubeless 11R 22.5's, driver's seat was swapped out for one out of a Mack...

If you have a mechanic background, great, if not, hopefully you have a good friend who does to go with you to check them out, good luck..
