No bc it seems you’ll make better pay with Linehaul for now with most restaurants not getting the full amount of food they usually get. As someone stated YRC is in a hole Sysco might be the way to go but if you’re trying to drive and get a workout, also try looking at the Aldi and Lidl accounts all palletized food and dock parking. You load food / unload food /load backhaul/ unload backhual all via electric pallet jack at the DC and Stores. If you can move at your height and weight give it a shot. I’m 6 1/2 ft tall 278pds I move quick and go to the gym before I go to work.

Your a tank going before you go too work. I love the physical part of Sysco it'll knock my motivation back into shape. Also make really good money. They said too guy made $104k and least was 65k. Yrc I did the math at 2200 a week making .51-.53 is only like 1150 or so.

forgot to mention you have to dock 2/3 times for your loads freezer/reefer/dry food lol anyways yea Sysco pays good I was set for a interview bc I did my 1 year of OTR and I know a manager in the DC but restaurants started to close up or serve just enough for take out to me it wasn’t worth it with massive layoffs. Now I’m good what I’m doing with NFI my gross pays has been 1550 -1800 a week which is good living in the Southeast. Good luck with Sysco or whoever you choose to work with next.

I saw an opening for Sysco shuttle position few weeks ago. Is that just moving trailers around from DC to DC? How much those guys make? Just curious

Sysco is mostly Union. So generally you have to work your way up for one of those positions. Union rules they got to post it I think. I’m not a union pro. So I could be wrong. Unless it’s a small barn, non union barn, or it’s very low paying for the guys on delivery to take it. But if it’s union you can always get bumped off of it. I had a easy delivery run I was forced onto at US Foods it was only 2 days of delivery which was 1/4 48” trailer full, 2 layovers and a easy cake back haul. I only really worked on thurs night for a local route which was a full 28” sometimes 35” I drug my feet and would barely hit 43hrs a week. But I loved it. Plus layover pay was $50 a night. Some lazy guy who been at the USF for 15 years finally wanted to come back out of the warehouse and took the easiest run which was mine. The whole time I was there that run kept popping up til they finally forced me on it too. Gotta love unions.

That’s a really good point and something I keep forgetting. A foodservice job is very risky right now in this covid world. If your local government decides to shut down indoor dining, you’re screwed.

I’ve seen first hand someone get hired off the street for shuttle at US Foods. It was less pay than delivering, but still not peanuts by any measurement. To this day I’m still kicking myself for not asking about it while it was still open. Would have been a great opportunity to lean doubles (and triples/LCVs on certain runs).

So does everyone think Sysco over yrc cause this fatboy will get whipped into shape. I know I'm heavy but it doesn't define me. I have the mental strength too do it.

No I said it primarily because of the higher pay and long term financial viability of Sysco vs YRC.

But it’s really a toss up with covid rates going up and down and bringing the foodservice industry up and down with it. Not just restaurants, but schools, hotels, and entertainment venues all use Sysco. It’s a tough choice.
