Yeah thats right, everybody trip plans, some better then others, but being held up at a wherehouse, flat tire or whatever can blow your 'Trip plan'.

Back when we were on paper logs it was much easier to avoid parking on a ramp.

What time of day was it? I’m not telling you your business but if it were possible I would’ve looked for a Walmart, Home Depot etc first instead of a truck stop if it was 5 pm or so knowing dang well the only spot available (if any) is the one you gotta take off the bumper of the tractor next to you lol can’t just tell those slave drivers to blow it out their arse and that you’re not running that hard 24/7? I mean it’s fine if you want to, but it seems you assumed the “Yes Man” position if you don’t; best of luck

    I parked about 2300.

Yeah, these type of dispatches suck the big one. They are relatively rare, maybe once a month. For the most part, I like my company and these bad dispatches are my only real beef. I've learned to take them, and do my best. If something happens and I don't make it I can show my log to prove I'm not jacking off, and running it the best I can. So far haven't missed any deliveries. I've got to the consigneed with less than 5 minutes on my clock a couple of times, and a sore butt from not getting out of the seat. But for the most part, the dispatches are good.

Hell maybe I’m just lazy because I haven’t had less than an hour left on my clock in at least half the loads I’ve delivered lol I run hard when I get a good early start knowing it’ll be 4 pm by the time I shut down or if it’ll be late if I don’t so I park at Walmart; I’ve only ever not made my delivery on time once because I had to go pick up a set of tarps in Pennsylvania, took me 4 hours to get there coming from Long Island and then I had to pick up the load the following morning in Connecticut which is what made me late. Western Express doesn’t pay me for anything other than driving and $25 tarp pay, so if I were in your position where I get to the consignee with only 5 minutes left on the clock my general response is, “Eat me” Why? Because why the hell would I want to after a 14 hour day make it a 15+ while not makin a dime for it?

I'm with you on starting early AM and shutting down when the truck stops are empty. But I run reefer and for the most part it's the appointments and lumpers that dictate when I run. I also like running over night and parking at 5 or 6 when the stops are emptying out.

I park at customers and in industrial areas sometimes. I need to add Walmart to my repertoire like you mentioned as well.

If you drive for FFE they will nail you if you parked on a ramp and get caught. They used to discourage it, now they said nope.

We had some drivers that have been hit while being broke down on the shoulder. During that time frame we also had a couple of drivers on the on/off ramps hit too, so the CEO put out we are not allowed to park there.

Easier said than done. Ramp parking is not justifiable in any means. Ramps where not built for someone to park on and its against the law...period.
