    Talk about misleading.....

Ask the Teamster members in the Central States pension fund about the state of their pensions. And higher wages? I'm making more hourly than many Teamster jobs in my area. How is that?

You know this for a fact? I would think a Teamster lawyer would have a field day in court with that one.

Oh. I'm not worried in the least!

Well. Many Teamster jobs are choosing to provide benefits over "industry-leading pay."

In many cases, it's more in column A or B, but the cost-per-employee remains the same. Sometimes it's about insurance or pension/retirement, depending on a person's needs.

Regardless? Find the job that offers what you need and you'll be happy.

foggy, Lonesome and p608 Thank this.

I would agree. Find the job that's a fit for you, whether it be in a trade union or not. Just tired of hearing that membership in a union automatically equals top pay and benefits. It just ain't so.

It's the route I chose, and I regret nothing. But it's not for everyone.

Even so, unions are important, because unchecked corporations have too much power. Same can be said of unchecked unions, though, too.

    Balance is key.

Now that you have paid your dues, you get both. Industry leading pay and awesome benefits. I doubt any company driver job will beat what you get at the top of your position.

I am a teamster. Have been for past 35 years.
I am home nightly, have better than most benefits and will earn 134,000 dollars this year.
I may drive 600 miles one day and 30 the next.
I am free to stop when I want and stay where I want 3 to 4 times a month. If you have an issue with the teamsters you don't drive my job.
I personally have no love for any union and could take em or leave them.
But, I love my paycheck and it just so happens that you must join the union to work here.

My cousin's is down to about 30% of what it was supposed to be. He said he may get 5 more years out of it if he's lucky.

CS is just so unfortunate. I hope somebody can figure something out for those folks.

I wouldn't appreciate what a union would presume to do with my money and catering to the lazy ones while a good driver gets canned for chicken-####.
