Hard to say,it could be ready to roll or a polished turd. You’d have to lay hands on it or have it inspected.

    What do you guys think?
Don't know the mileage yet, pending call from the owner.

    2004 Freightliner Columbia
    Seller's description
This is a really nice, clean truck. We used it to haul a large horse trailer for high school rodeo, but don’t need it any longer. It has a Detroit Diesel 60, 14.0 liter, 475 hp motor with a new Eaton 10 speed transmission. Single rear axle, power windows, cruise control, 3 stage jake brake. We removed the bunk from the sleeper and replaced it with leather bucket seats and a high end center console (still have the bunk). It has new tires all the way around, new clutch, new projector style blacked-out headlights, new Kenwood Bluetooth stereo, new air bags and leveler for cab suspension, rear air suspension, lowered goose neck hitch, bags and leveler for cab suspension, rear air suspension, lowered goose neck hitch, new U-joints on drive line, recent oil change and air filter and much more. It has been recently inspected by two different diesel mechanics and has no issues. It will pull, and more importantly STOP, whatever you have. It is ready to go as a hauler.

Wow, reading a lot of bad reviews about this Columbia set up, no power, low torque and terrible fuel economy (6-7mpg)..

According to this thread, that's 7k, flat, barely pushing 7mpg.. Crazy.

One of my cousins worked for a company that manufactured asphalt shingles , heavy loads going out . the company leased freightliner day cabs from Ryder. 2005 models i think , my cousin loved the way the 14 litre detroit pulled and ran .

Maybe that just hit the ear wrong.?
When I say throw away motor, I didn't mean to pull it & toss it immediately. More like when it does reach 700-900k miles, or whenever she starts to give up, toss it. I don't think the rebuild ability of them is good. Do a re power with another low mileage 3126 pullout if the price is right, or maybe just put the truck out to pasture depending how she held up over life..

The part the worrys me with long OCI's in a HEUI motor is I thought it caused oil shear.? Maybe it can be seen with sampling,? How it would show up I'm not exactly sure.. Maybe loss of viscosity.?
