I'm in route from Denver to Salt Lake City. I was supposed to take I-80. Saw the wind and upcoming weather conditions and asked to deviate and come in on I-70 instead. I made it from Denver to Nephi, Utah today. Pain in the butt. My trailer is VERY heavy (43,600 lbs of 'stuff') and between the weight, the road conditions, the hills and the wind, it was a real slog. But, I should be able to hop up into SLC for an early afternoon delivery and I'm not stuck in Wyoming because of wind and snow until Wednesday! Added 90 miles to my trip, but worth it!

Update: Made it to my delivery just fine, although there was some definite strong winds coming into Salt Lake City late-morning, early-afternoon. Even got unloaded in less then an hour, a rare occurrence for me! Now, I'm sitting at the West Valley terminal and just started a much needed 34 reset (a.k.a., a day off!!!). Was seriously thinking of checking into a hotel for my reset, which is my usual. But, decided to just hang out in my truck instead and save the money. Since I don't have to be out driving in it, having my truck get rocked some by the wind is kinda nice, and this cooler weather is a welcome respite from the heat!

Wolfe Creek Pass, CO may get up to 30 inches of snow through Thursday. Also, don't forget to pack your chains if running I-70 as they are mandatory from September 1 to May 31.

Claimed earliest on record, if that tells you anything. While "hanging iron" will certainly be enforced, they also implemented a minimum tread depth on tires, 4x4 or not. We had temps in the 90's yesterday, so the ground is warm, won't last long. Whoever thought it would snow in the Rocky Mountains? I'm sure CDOT will have their hands full with campers stuck back in the hills.

How much longer until we start seeing 100+ vehicle pileups? Stay safe out there!

I’m parked about 1600 miles east of Denver. I think that’s far enough o_O

I came through Wyoming on Thursday and it was in the 90's. Strange weather indeed.

They just had a storm in June and the roads were closed.
Now early September and it happens again.

I was looking on the WYDOT page it was listing multiple accidents. MM 140 had several crashes. Maybe another pileup?

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.
