I applied to dozens of companies when I first got my license. You have to throw a lot of applications out there because there’s so much competition for these jobs. If you pick one at a time and stick with just that one app through the whole process before they decide to not offer you a job, you’ll be unemployed for a while.LtlAnonymous, Jay5GS and Cardfan89 Thank this. -

What's the point of UPS hiring drivers and not having a set schedual for them. My friend just took the feeder position out of Easton PA in the new building man and he is struggling. Basically they have him on call after his 10hrs to see if he going to work. They call him spontaneously like hey you have work today. He left a job making 2000 a week to go play russian roulette with UPS. I understand its the best company to work for but Hell to all that making you beg for work. They need to do a better job on hiring drivers. He stood a entire week home cause they did not have jobs for him. Imagine you have a family, mortage, car note how in the world you going to pay that off cause UPS want to have you like a puppy. What i see UPS is for young guys that lives with their parents with no responsibility and go enjoy the struggling game they got going on. Like they say the grass it's not always green in the otherside.

Business levels are not the same every hour of the day, day of the week, month or year. Thus the need for on call drivers. They can’t have hundreds of drivers at most locations with set schedules without having on call drivers to fill the gaps when people call off, take vacations or business is higher than normal. It is just the way it works, those who don’t like it don’t need to take a job there because that is how it is at the bottom of the seniority board for most everyone working there.[/QUOTE]De Trucker and LtlAnonymous Thank this. -
The only way I am aware they can help this problem is to not have “Hog On Call Boards”. They could have a first in first out “wheel” on call board, but with many seniority based jobs it usually doesn’t work like that. Occasionally a location will do this, but most locations do not.
