By law a past employer can only tell a future employer when you started and ended employment. Absolutely nothing else .

 

Some companies won't have an issue with that because you were retired.

As far as winter. Keep them informed about the weather and let them know your limits and you would prefer to stop.

I always shut down early when weather is expected or coming in so I could get parking before the mad dash begins once the weather closes in.

Let the plows get out in the morning and plow and sand and travel safely to your destination, especially if you running empty .

 

If you go to Southwest Truck Driver Training school; tell the school administrator you want a "Automatic Restriction" on your license. Make sure they will train you with a truck that has automatic transmission.
