Ok you're not being careful enough by not getting off of your ### and double checking things, and being too lazy to get out of the truck.
You might be in situations where you're in and out of the truck 8 times to make a back, in the pouring rain no less.
You're record screams " I'm lazy ".
That's why the trooper attached it to an inspection report. It's not a clean inspection.
Just fired a few too many minor preventables +

Dot / state troopers like to say " Look, I'm going to cut you a break and just give you a warning" but the inspection screws you if it has the warning listedLast edited: Sep 8, 2020

Hell man, not everyone is pro in their first years. I’m still nervous about stuff and I’m been movin 20 years. Last week after hammerin down 12.5 hours, got to the site with eyelids propped open with toothpicks. A football field of room to back the B’s into a spot. After 15 mins and a red face, I finally almost backed into another truck. (3am dark) he honked, I gave up. Did a loser lap and nosed in. Shoulda done that off the get go. I was sleep deprived and unaware. Cripes, should just bunked out a few hours earlier n sucked up some of my daily 16 shift hours in sleeper. But nooooo..... I bombed and made an ### of myself. I pride my skills at gettin the B’s backed into anywhere I want them. That night..... I sharted the bed.

Follow these basic rules/advice and if you're still in a truck 5 years from now, you'll look back and see how easy it really is and just how silly these mistakes are that you were making. Just slow down, take your time and just be sure before you make a move.sevenmph, nredfor88, homeskillet and 2 others Thank this. -
When people start driving, a company will put them in a truck with a trainer for anywhere between 6 weeks to 2 months. It seems redundant to have to ride with a trainer for so long especially when you are driving down the highway in a day or so. The reason why they do this is because that’s how long it takes to create new habits.
YOU have bad habits on your default settings. You can ace any driving test but as soon as you are done, you will automatically go back to your default settings. This is why Buddy suggested that you start over and relearn the basics.
You are trying to convince Arizona Dave and Mr Ridgeline, a pair of fleet owners who have to have an eye for talent that you are a good driver. If you were a good driver, you wouldn’t have gotten fired. If you were a good driver, Chinatown would not be suggesting Western Express as an employer.
(for the lurkers who think we are casting stones)
Everyone screws up. Everyone misses a turn. Companies know this. But when screwup is the default setting, it is evident. The company will can you. When you go to another company, you will do well for a while, but if that default setting is still on screw up, when you become comfortable, you will go back to default.
It’s like meeting and dating a super sweet girl who really likes you but she belligerent to waiters and her family. What is her default setting? Nice and sweet or mean and nasty?Dale thompson, Sirscrapntruckalot, Lumper Humper and 11 others Thank this.
