So I'm planning on getting my AZ & paying for it out of my own pocket. I was talking to Bison & the recruiter told me they sign on newly licensed drivers for two years because they have to go through their 13 week training program. (Fulltime OTR) One of the reasons I want to pay for my AZ is so I'm not bound to a company right out of the gate & have more job options. Is this 2 year contract normal for most companies??

It's normal if that company puts you through the course to get the license in the first place, but seems a bit odd for them to want a contract if you get the license yourself.......

Right?? That's what I was thinking. Also they said newbies only get OTR. No local or regional. I called them mainly to ask about their 7on 7off which is appealing but apparently they won't give that to rookies.

You paid for your license yourself and they want a contract? F that. What kind of crap company needs a contract to keep employees. One year contracts are common if the company provided training to get your license but not if you got it yourself. Run from this fast.

Never heard of signing a contract to be employee. No doubt contract does not benefit employee in any way, shape or form. What’s your location, maybe someone can steer you the right direction

Don't do it. Imagine being stuck to a 2 year contract if you hate the job after a few months......
Imagine being sued too if you break the contract and don't pay them back the amount specifcied in the contract o_O
