Hypothetical: Profitability Of Trucking As A Side Gig

    My only problem with that is that most of the agriculture in this state is on the east side, and I'm stationed on the west side. It would be kinda pointless to deadhead there and back, seeing as that'd be at least 300 non-earning miles a week...

    For numbers I would look at ooida's website. They have (or had) several back of the envelope business plans with rough costs. Or look for double yellows thread, that had good numbers if i recall correctly.

    Just something to mull - the fixed costs are the same regardless of if you do it full time or part time. The variable costs will be probably be lower per mile, but not by much. Think about how many people try to run their own numbers and fail.

    If I were trying to do soemthing like this, I would sign on to landstar or the like for a year before getting my own numbers. Having the weight of a mega behind you would lower the burden as you try and figure out the part time thing.
