Hello, hopefully someone can help. I'm looking for a company that provides 40/45 foot with liftgates. I have a Fortune 100 company that ships all over the US. If anyone has any suggestions who I can speak to you can reach me at daniel.sullivan@carggo.com. Thank you!

there are a few 42/45 footers left out there, but most companies went cheap and just started using 53 footers.. for some reason the shorter trailers cost a lot more money. I would check with the larger companies like Penske, Ryder and others to see if they can provide them.

I used to work for Penske Logistics, then after that hauled new empty trailers to all the major leasing companies. Simply put, you are not going to find many trailers spec'ed like that. Any time we picked them up at a trailer manufacturer, it was part of a large order for a specific supply chain need like yours The company you are trying to supply will have to buy/lease them for a specific dollar amount or time.
You didn't mention it, but if they intend to ship on that type of equipment, there is no chance they are going to be able to reload back to the origin, unless they have their own backhauls set up.

Why not use pup trailers? As the other guys said 42' is hard to come by.

You are looking to get into a tight area use a Freightliner day cab and a 32' or 28' foot pup.

You can haul doubles. Drop one somewhere, deliver the other then come back and deliver the second one.

That must be why we're using 48's with lift gates.

45's are supposedly tougher to come by, but Pitt Ohio certainly has no trouble finding them.

When the company I worked for went from floor loads to rolltainers, they simply slapped liftgates on every trailer they could get their hands on. There were a lot of 48's and 53's.. a hand full of 45 were out there, but they were ancient. There are a few companies with the $ to buy 45's in bulk, but retooling to make 45's costs a lot of money for the factory to basically stop building 53's and stop the trailer at the 45 foot mark! lol

Look at truckpaper.com . I've thought of this exact scenario, and did a lot of searching for trailers between 32 and 40'. They are out there. Some companies will also make them out of new or almost new 53'ers. Liftgates can be an afterthought... concentrate on finding the trailer you want first, then negotiate a liftgate.
