The ledge looking groove on the belt edge is normal. By the looks of the style of arrows for the original tread wear indicators that is a Bridgestone casing. They are generally wider than a Michelin so when Michelin retreads them the have that. The XZE2 style tread is a liitle narrower than most Bstone treads.

Looks like a repair. You can run a regroover through it to even it up with the rest if you like. But it's ok if you don't

That tire still has atleast 6/32’s on it. If its not a flat spot just re-groove out that spot run it till 2/32’s and trade it back in for it’s retread.

Yeah I don't know the whole tire is perfect with a lot of meat on it there's just one little spot there.

I'm getting unloaded now so when I get back to the yard I'll take a better look at it see if maybe I can find somebody around me they can Groove that piece out.

Actually if I take it to the tire shop they probably will have good idea what's what.

Looks like a defect in the tire from the factory. It will probably chunk off after a while. I notice this sort of thing seems to happen a lot on michelin tires.

Some.............dude.......lost a pallet in front of me in Oregon on the 5 awhile back.

I did my best to straddle it, but it took the brake lines off one of the trailer cans.

I considerably shortened the life span of those almost new trailer tires. But just in one spot.

I agree with that it is a section repaired tire.
DOT regulations require an minimum of 2/32 on trailer tires in major tread grooves. While it is narrow how deep is it?
Is one spot on one tire under 2/32 out of service? I thank not. Run it out in my opinion.

It looks like a repaired tire as there are missing sipes on the left side. As long as you can't see steel belting in the grove then it's legal...

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

What regulation would you be able to quote to reject it? From the picture there is nothing wrong with the tire save a few blemishes that might end up lowing the life of the tire, but definitely not 'illegal'

    Rideandrepair and Goodysnap Thank this.
