I think I've got it. Since you're doing flatbed, you should be doing local / regional out of Connecticut.
I've sent two guys to Southern Oregon to run local / short haul with dry van.
We are deadheading in-between Oregon and Connecticut cause that's the only way to make the really BIG $$$ AND get home every night.

So I have a choice of 2 loads both a little over $4 per mile, and both going to areas with nothing coming back to NorCal. My choices are Twin Falls ID or Roswell NM. My concern is driving home DH with a low pressure system sitting on the Calif coast, and high pressure sitting over the great basin. Sounds like a perfect scenario for high winds while I drive home empty.
UPDATE: I took the Idaho load. I figured if it gets windy, I can just head up to the PNW for a load where the wind is a bit more forgiving. Looks like rain in the PNW today, and hopefully it will help put out all the fires and clear out the smoke. Our air quality here in NorCal is back to it's normal beautiful blue skies.Last edited: Sep 18, 2020

Well, another week in the books. Got home today at 1300. Only worked 3.5 days this week, because I can. @Midwest Trucker I know I promised you I'd try harder this week, I really meant to, but you know, sometimes that's just the way it goes in life
I put in a whopping 26 hrs this week. I was able to make $139 an hour to the truck on 1,323 miles, so at least there's that. Better than nuttin'.
We are getting some rain here in Orygun. It was nice to be able to breath again this morning.Last edited: Sep 18, 2020

Received this nice email from a sweet Landstar agent today. Sounds like a good opportunity for someone. Chiloquin, OR is a little off the beaten path from me. Plus, I'm not into going "all over the United States" doing multi-drops, or dropping my trailer to be loaded.
I think there's a door manufacturer over there called Jeld-Wen. Maybe someone who reads this thread has hauled out there.
"Good afternoon!
You are receiving this email because you are listed as an Approved Carrier for Landstar, and we are looking for some help!
We are currently looking for reliable, dedicated carriers that are interested in a partnership - long term - for 53 dry van loads out of Chiloquin, OR.
These loads go all over the United States, and all loads require a 53 swing door with ETRAK and 6 straps.
Loads range from 22-42k
Carrier's driver must be willing to sign up on MacroPoint
Many loads have a few stops, some have none
***IF*** you are willing to drop a trailer or two in there for ease of loading and more flexible pickup times, that's a huge bonus.
If you are NOT interested in dropping trailers, your trailer just needs dropped the day before your load is to pick up OR by 5am the day OF loading. It takes approximately 4hours to load on average. Sometimes it's quicker.
We are looking for long term partners that understand how beneficial a relationship like this can be. We have high volume freight every week.
There are too many lanes and variables to list out, but if you are interested please contact me and I'll be happy to speak with you more about this!"Dale thompson Thanks this. -

I heard on a radio show that October will be the deeply discounted Christmas shopping month this year, instead of November as it usually is. So that could be a continuation of this current rate run-up. Who knows? All I know is that RBG has gone the way of all the earth.PPDCT, Dale thompson and Midwest Trucker Thank this. -
Okay, I'm just gonna leave this here without comment. Except to say it's going viral.
