How's everyone doing? New guy here and on the job. I'm driving an International day cab, first job and three days in! My question is about the automatic transmission that has an urge to move feature. It sure has the truck surging forward or in reverse at the most inopportune times, like docking into a tight spot when I would prefer to feather it in.
Is there any way to tone down the urge to move feature and make life a little easier?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Urge to go!

International garbage. I know exactly what you mean, almost broke my neck and back. Have fun. As far as I know there's no cure, but someone else on this forum may know. I quit that position for sake of health.

It's all about right foot finesse. I looked at like when I started giving it some throttle it was like a spring spooling up and then bam, off you go.
You'll get it. After a couple months it wasn't an issue anymore. I had mastered it and didn't even realize it.Last edited: Sep 19, 2020

yah like fish said, just finesse it, but it's not an issue with Volvo I-shift as I recall I had no problems. It's only that cheap International junk.

no to flomax, i am on a diuretic for my BP. and that "makes me go" very often when i am in the middle of sumting.....lol -
If you use both brake and throttle at the same time, the drivetrain doesn't know what to do, and can get jumpy. Also, if you're able, disable the hill hold feature.
magoo68 Thanks this.
