I wonder if the equipment operator had to immediately go get drug tested? Probably not as the ILA 'protects' its members.

Have you ever been to a container depot?
Have you seen how easy stacked containers shift?

    lovesthedrive Thanks this.

I am glad I have not, tho I was not aware. Tho it also makes sense as I am sure containers are not equallt loaded and one end might be MUCH heavier than the other.

Bud A., rachi and daf105paccar Thank this.

Okay, here's the deal here, driver error. That's a yard spotter and they hit a stack of containers, causing this one to fall. The driver is lucky it was empty or light load, as 46K would have flattened the truck altogether.

    rachi Thanks this.

Empties slide like they are on grease.
Loaded ones, there it depends on the initial energy.

Looks like the stacker driver miscalcutated his swing out.
A 20'.......barely comes out off the machine.
A 40' or more you would surprised how much it swings out.

Bud A. and rachi Thank this.

Says it shifted as he was driving by, no mention of him hitting it. Of course it's not like the driver would admit it, but...
I have seen shipping racks be stacked up and fall over, once just randomly when no one is around and once on a parked trailer next to it. Would not surprise me if the crane operator missed a corner and it wasn't stacked as well as it should have been.

201 and Bud A. Thank this.

That will be because they are just about to lift the container to free the driver.
