Since autonomous trucks are gaining serious ground should I be looking for a new career?

Become a police officer. They are in high demand, nobody wants to do it anymore and everyone thinks they can do it better. Do your 20 to 30 years..get your pension then drive a truck. There will still be plenty of trucking jobs then. This autonomous crap is mostly a bunch of BS. When the autonomous truck companies go bankrupt the CEO,,'s will get their piece of the pie and run. Uber and some other self.driving truck company I read about already called it quits. They said it's just not feasible at this point in time

The infrastructure needed to run any autonomous vehicles on the roadways is so far out in the future. It really is not something I worry to much about.

One of the big hurdles that the manufacturers need to overcome is the safety aspect. Even today Google, the first company to push for autonomous vehicles is or has for the most part stopped using them. Why, safety reasons.

Or, the drivers are teaching the computers how to drive every time they override the computer by keeping their foot on the accelerator when the computer wants to hit the brakes or when the driver hits the brakes when the computer thinks the brakes don't need to be applied. In that case, autonomous trucks might be coming sooner than we think.

He didn't quit marriage, just the women. I think he last wife was south american and she lasted. I don't know if a hollywood type is good for marriage. Not many two actor marriages make it now.

Self driving trucks. As long as there is construction, you will need someone to take over. Poorly painted lines on the road same result.

To the best of my knowledge, there are only three ways for an autonomous vehicle to know where it is. First would be some form of a sensor in the road, using GPS or an inertia system much as they used with the Apollo space program. Most likely a combination of them. Then there would have to be programmed in the vehicle a "what to do in case" at every point along the way. This would have to be updated real-time to account for hazards that constantly change.

I find it interesting this topic comes up in these forums a few times every year or so. I just don't see vehicles that are not following something like a rail or buried sensors without a driver with our current technology OR with our society being so dang litigious the costs to insure would be monstrously cost prohibited. I just don't see it happening!
