I purchased a 2007 Kenworth sleeper straight truck out in New Orleans and will be getting it to bring it home to knox Tennessee, but first its going to a local shop there to get some work done and I probably wont be getting it for another week or so. That brings up 2 questions. I am waiting to get paperwork from the bank with bill of sale and a copy of the title. Can that truck be driven home with out a plate or registration? I will hopefully have that stuff to register and bring a plate before the truck is done but I was just curious.

Also when I am driving home. The truck will not have any DOT stickers or anything aside from maybe an apportioned plate. Do I still need to fill out at least a paper log and hit all the scales? or just hammer down and don't look back?

She's solid. I have the reports of everting done to the truck since new. Buying it from the original owner after 700K miles. I have not ran that report but honestly am not worried a bit.

kind of a bit late for that now. Honestly didnt even think about it at the time and again wasnt worried after talking to the owner for several hours straight and looking through the trucks history. but im not going to think negative.

Right wrong whatever, I bought my tractor in TN, bobtail home to FL..

Paid cash, took the title to local DMV in Spring City where I got it. Told them I bought it to use personal to tow an rv. They gave me a temp tag good for 30 days for like $20-$30 I think. Called my insurance, gave them the vin #. Hammer down, i75 basically the entire 700 miles home.. Had a chase car come after me, the rv thing was going to be my story. It worked at the DMV..

Almost the same story for me.
Flew to Texas paid cash and put my dealer plate on it and drove it home to New York.
It already had “not for hire” on the side of the truck and I just sailed passed every scale and had no issues.

If you drive that beast down the highway, it MUST be registered ! As in, fees paid.
