    I mean if it is 38000 Rear, Whats the max weight that truck can have, 80000 or less?

    A 40k rear is just heavier duty than a 38k rear. But there's also a rating for your suspension too. Are you trying to figure out what your truck and trailer is capable of?

    Assuming its a typical American OTR setup you're not going to be legal for more than 34k on the drive axles anyways.

    The higher the axle rating, the heavier the axle housings and internals are.
