Are there any Allison Techs or Engineers on here? I've got some technical questions about the 4500 and 4700 transmissions.

Not an Allison tech, but have 4500 RDS transmission in half dozen or so trucks. What are you after?

Thanks for your reply. I want to know if the planetary gearsets from the 4700 can be changed. Specifically, the 4700RDS has a 4th planetary gearset with 7.53:1 ratio and second is 3.51:1, which is the first gear in the 4500 series. Can that gearset be moved to where first is on the 4700 series?

Out of curiosity, what work are you doing that you need half a dozen Allisons?

My understanding on the 4700 vs 4500 was what you are talking about, it has the creeper gear. It is targeted @ ready-mix work. We have the 4500RDS in seven quad axle dump trucks. We had issues with off-road maneuverabiliy in three of them and it turned out power train protection was turned on. Turned it off and haven't had issue since.

Do you happen to know the part number on the rear upper brace for the 4500rds?
