Some of them were split up. You could blew a fuse and still run on three cylinders.

    truckdriver31 and Rideandrepair Thank this.

Today I changed the fuel filter casing from filter only to a glass one so I can see that the fuel pressure is fine. Also, I put a diagnosing computer and I got 2 faults; first says, Status - Active, Component - Brakes, Description - J1939 EEC1 Timeout, Lookup Code - SID 231, FMI - 9. The second says, Status - Active, Component - Brakes, Description - J1939 Open Circuit or Short circuit, Lookup Code - SID 231, FMI - 5.
I checked all the fuses in and out the truck and all are fine. I checked the grounds front and back, also. I tried all day to find the problem, but no success. I do not know what else I can do to start this truck.

    Rideandrepair and truckdriver31 Thank this.

Did the computer read the ECM? Make sure that the ECM shows up when hooked up. You are getting brake codes but that does not mean it is reading the engine ECM it just shows the ABS box.

    Rideandrepair and truckdriver31 Thank this.

Do yourself a favour and get rid of that ether can. Unless its 35 below you're just needlessly damaging the cylinder walls.

I do not know if computer is reading ECM because it’s my first time using it. I just followed the instructions, hooked it up, and waited till the codes came up. How do I know that computer is reading the ECM? Can anyone tell me? Please! Even my friend that gave it to me does not know. As per ether I got rid of it. Thank you all of you helping me. I appreciate your advice and suggestions. I pray and hope that this week it’s going to start.

What do you mean about computer reading the ECM? If its displaying codes, its connected.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

On Nexiq and Jpro it will show which computers it is hooked to. If you connect Detroit program up it will just show not connected if there is an ECM issue. What diagnostics tool are you using?

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

He got brake code. MID 136 but says that no engine codes came up MID 128 so it is seeing the brake computer but I wanted to make sure he is seeing engine ECM.
