Hello,
I just got my CDL and want to add Hazamat endorsement (alreadu have double/triple and tanks).
What's the best way to study this and what exactly do I need to "remember"? For example - do I need to remember all classes/division and which other classes/divisions they can be combined with?
Thanks.
Adding Hazmat endorsement - do I need to remember each class and division?

You need to be able to name all the classes. I don't remember any segregation on the test, but be prepared to pretty much memorize the HazMat section of the book, if you want to pass. The test is fairly comprehensive.

I just renewed my HazMat a couple months ago in WA State. The knowledge test was 35 questions and you could miss up to 7 question and still pass. I studied the CDL practice test on this site and studied 2 other CDL practice sites I found. Still was a couple questions on the knowledge test not all answered on those 3 sites. All 3 sites had great questions to learn from about the different classes and what and what can not be carried together.

It's pretty nice to know the classes.. there are basically 9 of them and if you apply a little thought.. its pretty easy to understand which ones cannot be loaded together (Flammables & Oxidizers or Food and Poisons etc). Most of the hazmat stuff is common sense. READ the whole question EVERY time.. they will sometimes change the meaning of the question half way through. Head to this site and used their practice tests until you can comfortably get 90-100s on the tests. they have several to take and its all free.. but there will still be questions on the test that none of these practice tests have! 2020 FREE CDL Test Practice - All Endorsements

One thing to understand, is the rest of the CDL written test and endorsements are a walk in the park. Not saying HazMat is super difficult, but it's way more like an actual "test" than the rest. Meaning you don't just read through the book once and walk in there and take it, unless you want to fail. Need to read the info a few times until you feel good and comfortable with it before you bother.

Not that hard. Find the site that has state specific questions and take their sample tests, they had two trick questions I saw on the real test.

When I got my CLP, I used some on the forum sites like this one that have practice tests, and that is literally all I used to study for my tests, *including* my endorsements (HazMat, Dbls/Trpls, Tankers.)
It wasn't nearly as difficult as I had imagined it would be, TBH. -
You need to know the proper order for the required info on the hazmat shipping papers.
I've moved and transferred my CDL to 4 different states, and they ALL asked that.
UN or NA Identification number, proper Shipping name, Hazard class, Packing Group.
