Sorry to see it turned out this way SSB. I hope you find something in your neck of the woods soon. Been making long term goals to take my lineman career to FL, can't stand the NY living anymore.

There's gotta be something that pays decent no?

I talked to a Sherwin Williams driver and he was making $2K per week. I don't know if they hire in Florida though. I know they have a distribtuion center in Winter Haven. I know they catch hell trying to get in and out of the stores. I'm pretty sure it's haz mat. Might be worth checking into.

That sounds like good money. I do hear of a friend's friend hauling scrap aluminum cans to the plant 4-5 days a week and making good 6 figures out of FL too. He just gets up early and gets the first load out before anyone's up.

I actually saw a job listing on Indeed from them. Not sure if they allow drivers to take their trucks home, or stop at home for time off with equipment. If not, Winterhaven is quite a commute from where I live. I saw an ad for Ashley out of Jacksonville as well which would be a 'home on the weekend' job, but where they're located it would only be an hour or so travel time to and from once a week wouldn't be bad if they really paid what the claim ($80k+)

I made it home and finally got to sleep. The last shuteye I had was in E. St. Louis when I was bringing that damaged trailer back to Mascot. So, drove to Mascot, then to Church Hill...then told to clean it out. Finally got done packing around 2:30 am, but was so p/o'd that I couldn't sleep. At 8 am we went to get my rental. By the time I got back and got loaded, it was around 11:30...and thankfully they got me a vehicle with abundant room for stuff. They got me a Kia Sedona V-6. 640 miles home in a little over 9 hours, including 2 fuel stops, a lunch break and dinner break. While rolling, I think I averaged 75 mph, but still showed an average 30.2 mpg at that speed with a moderate amount of gear in the back.

Sherwin-Williams from what I hear is a great place to work. They advertise making over 100k a year around the PNW

I have a friend that’s works for sherwin Williams and he’s making 1500-2000 a week. Pushing pallets of paint to the back of the trailer. There’s also a thread on here about Ashley. The LTL drivers make more than the OTR drivers for the most part but they have to tote furniture to the back to unload it.

I also heard Ashley drivers get a 34 on the weekend, and it's back at it. Not a minute more.

You heard right. They even mention that in their social media and trucking rag recruiting ads. 34 whole hours off! How do these companies stay in business?

Lol because many focus on the pay and not the balance. I have several friends who run their clocks out regularly and then run recaps as long as they can.

I hope @supersnackbar can find a midsized company (so he gets his healthcare) but one with management who actually values their employees.

On second thought, without a good rant this thread just wouldn’t be the same :).
