I did not know about the impediment. If it so, I am glad. Although, I always thought of it as impediment.

I wonder what the percentages are of new truck owners who lease on vs get own authority. Maybe 80% lease on?
Then, how many of those 80% end up getting their own authority? 20%?Scooter Jones Thanks this. -
Scooter Jones, Dale thompson and Midwest Trucker Thank this.

One thing we should all be thankful is how low fuel cost are. That combined with the higher spot rates is a win win situation.
I was looking at my overall fuel related costs in relation to my revenue averages this summer. Since we pay a weight mileage tax here in Oregon, which is where I do most of my business, I obviously have to include that in the fuel related line item as follows:
1. Diesel
2. DEF
3. Oregon Road Tax
This summer my fuel related costs average is right around 17% of gross revenue. Which is a pretty decent % I think.Dale thompson, Midwest Trucker, PPLC and 1 other person Thank this. -
Well, I pay for my Auto-Liability ($1 million), General Liability ($1 million) and Cargo($100 000): $7500 and then for Physical Damage and Theft: $1400 (Equipment valued at $45 000 both truck and trailer). All combined: $8900
It goes down a few hundred each year...no accidents, no tickets, no claims.
I am content with the agent I work with but perhaps I should try and do some insurance shopping this year.Last edited: Sep 25, 2020

I was saying about a situation when a broker was calling and asking how much I'd it for on a lane of interest. I would not quote 5 dol per mile on a load over 1000 miles. At least not yet. Maybe I should...I don't know if it would work...just yet.
