Egr didn’t start till like 2003.5. That’s when cat went from a 6nz to a MBN serial number. Detroit the same. 2004 generally first model years with emissions I do believe.

First and the worst across all makes, although, there are exceptions to that rule.

My take is the 02-03 that didn't have EGR were surplus left over stock???

Not as far as I know. I had an 02 379 with 6nz cat. Know plenty of guys with same. 03 1/2 to 04 1/2 was a MBN cat. Bridge motor. 04 1/2 acert began. Pretty sure anyways. I also know Detroit produced a 14L non egr engine I believe same time frame as cats MBN.

Detroit produced a 14 liter non egr engine for sale in the starting in the 98 model year, 525 and 550 horsepower in other makes, and up to 575 horsepower for Freightliner.

Someone had a 550 Detroit in a Ford, and used that as his screen name.

The 14 liter egr horsepower rating topped out at 515. Starting in 2003 but there were n14s in factory 2003 FLDs. We had 3 of them, 2 grenaded when they got too many miles on them, I drove one once, and it pulled the live haul trailer really well that one time.

N14s were decidedly not modified for EGR.

I drove a non egr ISX for awhile, too. Electrical issues galore with those.

Have a late 2003 BSX that's been converted to a 6NZ. Does anyone know if this will have any effects under the ELD mandate?

It’s still a 2003 block. All you did is change a few bolt on parts and flash ecm.
