Csa, psp, dL record, clearinghouse, dac! Cmon how much more crap are they going to keep pinning on us drivers this is getting out of hand. No wonder nobody wants to drive. No wonder there trying to get automation going they kicking every driver out of the truck. What are your thoughts from new or seasoned vets?
When is it going to end?

Been driving since April 1997. None of the things listed are an issue for me. CSA and PSP aren’t that big of deal. My truck and trailer are fine and honestly I can’t even tell you the last time I was inspected. The last ticket I got (other than overweight tickets) was back in 2015 so there’s nothing too exciting on my MVR. Never failed a drug test and I don’t switch who I’m leased to so the clearinghouse isn’t an issue. And I’ve never worked for a company that reports to DAC.

Big ####ing deal. If those things keep u out of the truck I could care less. Good pay and Benifits are much more important. Automation saves company’s money on salary and Benifits. Find a trucking job where automation won’t work and you’ll be fine.

I don't think that any of that stuff (most newbies don't have a choice anyway) has anything to do with why people don't wanna drive truck.
Most have no work ethic, are entitled and want something for nothing imho.
I think that for a young person to concentrate intently on anything for any length of time is a chore due to the fact that they're all stuck to their devices, a byproduct of the times.
And for every "bad" thing that you mentioned there's 100 good things that have happened in trucking in the last 45-50 years.
Started driving in 74, got legal(chauffeurs) in 75.
In and out of trucks till 77. That was when I went full time OTR. Got 3 speeds in one week, figured I knew it all.
Haven't gotten another since. Really hasn't been that difficult.
Comfort, efficiency, reliability, productivity, and technology all have made the job relatively easier.
The government oversight and nanny systems have been brought on by our own doings.
Drive responsibly and take responsibility and you'll not have problems..well except for your DEF system but that's another thread.
And btw I've got 2.5 yrs to go and will do 150K that year so the money's out there.bzinger, Roberts450, 650cat425 and 3 others Thank this. -
When is it going to end?
When CDL drivers stop talking or texting while driving, feet are kept off the dashboard, y'all stop passing other trucks on the right side, etc...etc... etc...
All this nannying was brought on by drivers themselves.Sirscrapntruckalot, AModelCat, Bean Jr. and 2 others Thank this. -
In fact “you” obey they law and keep right unless you are passing someone.
There is a class of driver who feels entitled to drive at any speed in the center lane just because there is a center lane.kylefitzy, bzinger, HoneyBadger67 and 9 others Thank this. -
Well, I got my second inspection in three weeks the other day. Seems like DOT in the south is rabid after staying home all spring due to covid.
Clean inspection except for the the passenger side hood latch not being latched. Little fella tugged on the front of my hood for 15 seconds before I finally told him to unlatch the other side and lift the hood from the wheel well. Guess I embarrassed him. Gave.me a sticker but wrote me for a unlatched hood. I watched him unlatch both. What do you do? What a ball sack.
