I have been thinking about going into temp work as I only really want to work a few months out of the year these days.
Anyone have any experience with these guys?

I know this is an old post, but a friend of mine was telling me about his experience with them last night and I found this while looking them up as well

    Long story short, run.

It started with an out of the blue text to him offering over $4k a week as a company driver. That should have been a red flag alone, but he had been looking and thought they may have been a recruiter responding to one of his searches. The pay also came with some high requirements, such as minimum length of service (otherwise only paid a minimum) and included a non-disclosure agreement. The company he was assigned to sounded like it as ran from a foreign country with an extremely pushy dispatcher/boss/owner (not really sure, because they kept changing their story). His truck barely ran when he recovered it and they didn't want to fix it, plus refused to give him the Qualcomm login because the dispatcher boss person didn't want him and his team partner to waste their hours running it around to a shop. They also apparently didn't check the alcohol and drug clearinghouse records when they hired him.

He's no longer there, of course, and is filing a complaint with the Dept. of Labor, which may include trying to get paid back wages. Sounds like they may have not paid him anything.

Also, there's apparently another company out there simply called "Road Scholar," but has no relation to Road Scholar Staffing

Exactly as the previous post says. DO NOT WORK for them. You will pay dearly!

Can you give us more information?
How long did you work for them and what all went wrong/was not what you expected?
    Thanks for your input!

I worked for a week, and could not take anymore verbal abuse by the " boss ", nor could I continue to deal with them repeatedly trying to make me violate DOT safety regulations and requirements, or their incompetence. I received a truck that had obvious mechanical problems, but they refused to allow us to take to the shop. When they finally agreed, the mechanic said there was a severe issue, my boss tried to get the mechanic to allow us to drive the truck, even though the mechanic said there was a serious problem and that it wasn't safe to drive. 90% of the time we tried calling someone nobody answered. This was especially important because my login info would not work. So I couldn't legally drive. When they finally answer their phone I get berated for not driving. I ended up buying paper logs, but still was unsure because it was not a complete record of my hours, which is a violation of DOT regulation. My "boss" didn't care. Furthermore, my co-driver and I were constantly harassed during our mandatory 10hr. Rest period, which caused us to get very little sleep, which is extremely dangerous and stupid. When we complain it goes on dead ears. Now I am an inexperienced driver, but I know my job, even my co-driver who was very experienced ( close to 20 years), were treated like morons, and my boss ( who has never driven a truck ), acted like he knew everything and always talked down to us. I got pulled into a weigh station, only because my "boss" didn't have the proper permit to enter the state, luckily the officer only gave me a warning. So in total, this company is BAD news!

Thanks for the detailed write up!
So what was the name of the company that Road Scholar fed you to ?
Did you try complaining to the staffing agency itself or were all the problems from the company that they hired you out to?
Sounds like they did nothing to vet the client at all

But I thought that they do not own any trucks and send drivers out to different companies to fill in.
    Is this not correct?
Was Road Scholar dispatching you on loads directly ?

No, they don't own truck. Yes the contract you to outside companies. Yes they micromanage dispatch, even though the company they contracted you to has a dispatch

In my friend's case, the company they are assigned to started with a "P" and I think registered in North Carolina, but I don't remember the exact name. It wasn't one of the well known companies for sure. I say registered, because he said his dispatcher was in the Philippines and could hear chickens in the background sometimes when they called. To be honest, no idea how much of that one was true or exaggeration
