Thousands of dollars. Everything noted on the FMCSA website causes insurance rates to increase every year. If anyone trys to tell you anything different then they simply don't know how insurance works

What is now the westbound lane of the HRBT was at one time all that was there. There is NO wiggle room in that tunnel. Because I-64 is a MAJOR connection in the Hampton Roads area the VDOT is VERY tough!
It's a bit interesting I noticed this topic. I also was asked in a private message about the HRBT a few days ago. Virginia code 46.2-1110 is tough on this! AND they are serious!
No loaded or unloaded vehicle shall exceed a height of 13 feet, six inches. --------
The Department of Transportation may install and use overheight vehicle optical detection systems to identify vehicles that exceed the overhead clearance of the westbound tunnel of the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel on Interstate 64.-----------
Any person who drives or attempts to drive any vehicle or combination of vehicles into or through any tunnel when the height of such vehicle, any vehicle in a combination of vehicles, or any load on any such vehicle exceeds that permitted for such tunnel, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, in addition, shall be assessed three driver demerit points. In addition, the driver of any such vehicle shall be fined $1,000, of which $1,000 shall be a mandatory minimum. For subsequent offenses, the owner of any such vehicle shall be fined $2,500, of which $2,500 shall be a mandatory minimum.
A violation of this section shall be deemed for all purposes a moving violation.Labrador Thanks this.
