I have the Rand McNally elog.. if I go on duty to fuel it starts my 30 minute break..but if I switch to off duty it restarts to 30 minutes.. but I tried changing again to on duty and it dropped down to the correct time.

Is this an issue they are working on does anyone know? I either have to stay in duty or off duty the whole 30..can't change status

It could be a display issue. 30 minute breaks are weird now in they break a clock and not a window. Try staying on duty for 15, got off duty for 16 minutes and see if it resets the 8 hour clock. If it does it's just a display issue. If not you need to get a hold of RM to see when they will be compliant.

@ZVar the 30 minute break has to be consecutive. I think it was posted in one of the recent HOS threads. I was hoping you could combine the on/off duty it cant from what I remember reading.

Nope it doesn't. It has to be off duty, sleeper, on duty, or any combination of them. Basically anything that ends up being 30 minutes aside from driving.

Edited to add the wording fro 395
(ii) Interruption of driving time. Except for drivers who qualify for either of the short-haul exceptions in §395.1(e)(1) or (2), driving is not permitted if more than 8 hours of driving time have passed without at least a consecutive 30-minute interruption in driving status. A consecutive 30-minute interruption of driving status may be satisfied either by off-duty, sleeper berth or on-duty not driving time or by a combination of off-duty, sleeper berth and on-duty not driving time.

Nope. Any 30 consecutive minutes not on line 3 counts.

I'll try that ..it still is counting because when I went back to on duty it showed the correct time remaining.

Hope they fix it..kind of annoying.

Hoping it shows the 7-3 the right way ..don't wanna mess up a break

    ZVar Thanks this.
