Which trucking/ transportation business is the most successful in demand in Canada, please? I have enough money to buy a semi truck to ship stuff from Canada to the US but I am still not sure that it is the best transportation business ever. Sometimes I think about towing.... HELP PLEASE. I do not want to lose the money I have in the wrong business. I have heard that owner operators of semi trucks make more100k net profit a year. Thank you

Average gross of an owner op is 180k a year but your net profit is 10-15% of your gross. 100k net profit? In your dreams.
Average insurance is 20k a year, average taxes is about 25k a year. Average cost to rebuild/inframe/reman an engine is $20k to do it properly. 18 brand new tires is $10k. Then you have Fuel, maintenance, repair, labor cost, lumper fees, late fees, violation fees (if you’re a bad driver), speeding tickets (if you’re a bad driver).
Any business, shipper or carrier can be good. My broker wants to see A+ insurance rating with A+ driving record before he gives you $3, $4, $5 loads.
So realistically, 10-15% will be your net profit. This is the money that you can play with at the end of the year. People that tell you their net profit is 100k a year are the ones that fail. Don’t believe me? Go to a truck dealer and ask them where do they get the used trucks from? Everyday someone has failed, and truck dealers are happy to buy your truck and sell it to someone else. 10-15% is the magic number. -
There's a thread called the MILLIONAIRES CLUB.
Head over there, that's where some of the blue check Millionaire owner operators hang out. You won't be able to join the club yet, however, you might find some useful information over there, and sincerely, good luck!Brettj3876 Thanks this.
