I pulled into a janky gas station/Kroger parking lot to run across the street to the bank ATM. On the way out I went down a steep incline and the rear of the trailer caught it bad, it broke a couple welds and bent the rear frame of the trailer where the tail lights are. It’s the section that runs side to side at the very rear of the trailer. The trailer has ramps so the rear section rides lower than a standard hotshot trailer.

Would it be best to cut out the section and weld in new metal or is it ok to massage the metal back and reweld it as is?

I can’t tell you what to do, but can emphasize with your situation. My first few years I drug that trailer all over, up and down. I had tires fall off, axles catch fire, shackles come apart. Things unexpectedly happen. I once pulled into truck stop and slowed down only to be passed by my own tire. No joke

A good welder can do wonders. That tire that passed me at the Truck Stop, a welder repaired my axel. Afterward one wheel was about 1 inch closer to the frame. It rolled perfect.

For some reason my phone isn’t cooperating with the website uploading.

I opted to cut out and replace the metal, it’s probably not necessary from a structural perspective but I can’t get it to look good enough by just working it back into place. To me atleast, it’s noticeable.
