I have a 2017 Kenworth T680 with a Paccar Motor in it. Not entirely sure the specific model of motor.
Last few days it has been giving me some trouble. The cab starts smelling of Diesel fuel. Like super strong. As if someone was pouring it all around you. But the smell is more of as if it were burning. Most relatable smell was as if you had just lit gasoline to start your bonfire with.
After that smell starts, puffs of clear/white smoke start coming up from the driver's side part of under the cab. Sometimes I don't even notice it until I get stopped somewhere to check the cab. That little orange light on the dash comes on as well. Looks like smoke blowing east with a thermometer gauge.
Once I usually stop, the smoke clears up but that smell lingers for some time until you turn the truck off and let it sit. But at no point during this is any of the other gadgets in the truck showing signs of issues. Pressures are all good. Trans temp, axles temp, engine temp is all good. Voltage is good. Only thing that seems a bit high has been my oil pressure. Oil in it is good and filled up. So not sure there.
Originally I thought it was happening the more or longer I ran/drove it. But last night it happened within 150miles. It does not happen when it is running still. Only when you add throttle.
Any and all help is appreciated.

Fuel line loose on a barbed fitting?
Park it on a cardboard and look
For drips. Check Easy stuff first. -
Most likely you have a exhaust leak in flex pipe or dpf . The smell is from it doing a passive burn off . Get it checked out quickly and keep windows open to air out fumes .
spsauerland, rollin coal and Goodysnap Thank this. -

My initial thought is the truck is doing a regen and probably has coolant getting into the mix.

Yep, exhaust leak in the dpf system. The smell is normal, the fact that you can smell it and that it’s coming from under the passenger door is not. That’s most likely where you DPF is.
rollin coal and magoo68 Thank this.
