All right you Maverick truckers. This is CF's first load that he's dropping off tomorrow morning, so he left this evening. He's dropping a load of plywood in Washington Court House tomorrow morning. He said he had a hard time finding a truck stop. Is there one around that isn't advertised well? He found one for tonight, but it would be great for future reference :)

I'm glad to hear RC is doing well on his routes! CF told me that they can have so many days off a quarter for a long weekend if they request them in time.

Mile Marker #65 on I-71 there is two truckstops at that exit. Also, there is a McDonalds at that same exit with parking for 20 trucks. I assume you were talking about Washington Court House,Ohio?

He can sleep there. Go past the gate (gate is on left) go down cross tracks. Back into 1st drive on left. 2 big rocks at end of drive. Turn around and park on side of street. It is a industrial complex. I have slept there a few times. They will call on the CB in the morning to start staging. Is a lowes dist. center.

Also, thank you notarps for that info. He's already settled in for the night and needs hes 10 hour restart, otherwise that sounds like a fantastic plan. You all are so helpful! It's great when all the truckers help each other out.

The Walmart at WCH, OH is also an easy in and out if you need to restock or sleep.

I think this may be the run CF just picked up today. He went to Ghent, and was there from (my time) approx 1:30 to approx 5:00. He said most of it was 'grunt work' due to getting a pre-loaded trailer. I'm not sure where he's headed from there, but I think he might get some 'home time' due to that being so close to home! Is the radius 150 miles of being on route? I can't remember if that's what he said.

150 miles is correct. If you get hung out over a weekend, then it's a 250-miles radius for the following weekend.

    Latest update.

OK, so Sewerman was right. Unfortunately Redcoat went ahead and put all his stuff away before his dispatch came through for it. He made it to New Process on time and I'm not exactly sure how events played out but I know that as soon as he put in the macro for job complete, it beeped with his next dispatch which was to pick up right there and take the load to a town up by Jonesboro, AR. So he was aggravated that he had put all his stuff away and then had to get it all back out again. He thinks that SOMEbody at Maverick had to have known that was going to be the next dispatch and could have given him a heads up.

    Oh well, now he knows.

We checked out the route on Google maps and it was kind of cool because you could see the pictures of the building where he was going to make the drop. Some kind of electrical supply place. When he got there this morning, he said he ended up going around the back and they took his coils off back there.

So he made it to that consignee with no problems. Then got a dispatch to deadhead from there to Jackson, TN to pick up a load from Ameristeel and take it to some town northeast of Tulsa that I can't remember the name of.

While he was in Jackson securing his load, an SMX truck pulled up, loaded up, and Redcoat watched while the man tossed tarps over the steel, secured them, and then tossed tie-down straps over top of the tarps and winched them down, then left. RC was amazed. He couldn't believe the man didn't use chains to secure the load. They told him in school to secure steel with steel. THEN a Maverick driver pulled up, got the same load, and almost did the same thing. Only he put the tie-down straps on it first, and then the tarps. Redcoat left before he was finished so he didn't get to see if the man put anything else on it or not. But he thought the SMX driver was crazy. Said if the man had to hit the brakes hard, that load would go flying.

Then he talked to another guy there who drove for Western Express. The man drove for Maverick for four months and then quit last week because he didn't like having to tarp every load. Redcoat agrees that it's ridonculous to have to tarp all the loads, especially for a measly ten bucks but he doesn't think it's enough to quit the company over it.

Tonight RC is at the rest stop just past West Memphis. He plans to make a pit stop in Little Rock to pick up a mudflap seeing as how he lost one somewhere along the line.

Finally, Redcoat now has a new dispatcher. That must mean that he's no longer on probation. Boo-ya.

    Stay tuned.

Bing maps is cool too. The "birds eye view" is another higher resolution picture from 4 angles. Its clearer than Google Maps. I use both.
