So checked in at the hotel. Just found out that all the trucks are autos. SMH going to be stuck with the restriction.

I have been in auto for the last two years and I hated them in the beginning but got use to it the only issues I have with them now is bumping the docks it’s touchy and slamming into them happens quite often overall backing them all together sucks good luck at Stevens wish you the best

oh in the long run I wanted to auto, but didn't want it on my CDL as a restriction.

It is not as much of a problem now. More companies are going auto, even small ones. It is now the base transmission for freightliner.

Have been in and out of autos since about 07.
Currently have an auto. They are a lot better than they used to be. They do drive a little different than a manual. Then at 4:00 PM on the 405, you swear by them.

I got my CDL on a stick, but I've driven both manual and AMT about the same amount. I'm currently driving a New Cascadia with a 15Liter and a 9 speed manual... I cam across the LA basin today, west to east, in afternoon.... sure was missing an AMT! By the time I got done, I thought my leg was going to seize up... j/k, but wow.

It is not the end of the world to have the restriction.

I was a rookie driver back in 2016 and my first job was with Stevens Transport out of Dallas. I went with them because although their pay was bottom-of-the-barrel, their training program was top-shelf single malt. So I decided to bite the bullet for a while in exchange for the rigorous gauntlet that they put newbies through. And I'm glad I did; if you can do a year with Stevens, you're pretty much good-to-go anywhere else.
