Second pedestrian struck and killed in ten days. Waymo CEO claims driverless cars are still safe.

A 22 year old ASU student was run over by a driverless car Thursday afternoon while making her way up a flight of stairs to her off-campus apartment.

"It was like the car was hunting her", said one eyewitness. "The engine just kept revving even though it had become stuck on the stairs."

Tempe firefighters used the 'jaws of life' in order to free the two trapped passengers.

The CEO of Waymo couldn't be reached immediately following this tragic accident, but later released this statement to the media:

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of all who were affected by this tragic incident causing loss of life. But it's not much of a loss considering she was only a fine arts student."

Fine print: The preceding was realistic dark humor meant for thinking audiences. These future circumstances will be deemed entirely coincidental when and if they should occur.
