Well my friend . Do u understand what the job of truck driving entails? We bring goods to consumers .. So ask yourself where do the majority of consumers live ? So yes you will have to drive in big cities, it is part of the job.

I second @Chinatown , go tankers, preferably hazmat. Most deliveries are on the outskirts of the city. And hazmat routes keep you out of downtown.

Climate Express sends solo drivers to western states.
@bryan21384 can give details on that.
    `
This company runs solo drivers west. I've seen their trucks here in Las Vegas and in Arizona.

then do not even consider getting into truck driving.

you are basically refusing to work the way i read your posting.

we all hate BIG cities, but a city is a city, no matter where in the WORLD it is!

what are you going to do when you do get a job and the boss says, "ok, no big cities", but you DO HAVE to go to A CITY??

    gonna quit yer job?

if you're gonna be a truck driver, then DO THE JOB, as a PROFESSIONAL is supposed to approach it

Big cities aren't really much of big deals, I can count on one hand how many big cities I had to deliver to in the last 2 years. Latest was downtown Philadelphia. It really isn't much of a big deal, after you get experience everywhere, small, medium, large cities feel the same to be honest.

You'll go places in the middle of nowhere that are tighter than places in NJ and NY.

he ain't seen nuffin like i did each night, for 8 years or so, before i retired from my job, doing Downtown Boston, like Chinatown, and Southie, with streets so narrow, a Smart Car can't pass thru, and here i was with a 53 footer, tandems all the way forward, climbing traffic islands and riding them for a bit before i can get off them.

    easy peasy.

a PROFESSIONAL did that job 5 nights a week.

I actually do have a Tanker/Hazmat endorsement but don’t have any experience hauling tankers or haz materials.

I was expecting this, but thank you for your answer. And as I said, it’s the main reason I’m not OTR. :)

It's not the big cities to fear. It's parking in the big cities.
